I could just roast this book but I’ll offer you this instead: f you don’t want to waste your time but still want to read this series, simply skip any part where elloren gets introspective. You’ll cut the total of the book in half and literally won’t miss anything. Here’s how she feels: powerless and wants to be trained (that promised training will start halfway through part 4 of 6), she feels out of control powerful, horny for Lukas and sad that Yvan “died” in the most unbelievable death scene I’ve ever consumed, feels like she has to survive no matter what (a running sentence), and that she hates her people.

Ironically if Forest was a better writer and actually expanded on the side characters’ stories that were teased at the start instead of making elloren run in a plot cul de sac so she can bang Lukas this book would probably be the best in the series. But she didn’t. So we’re stuck with a poorly constructed, repetitive, deeply unsatisfying, disappointing mess.

What the fuck

Edit: still mad

I feel like the romance between the FMC and the 2 different MMC was rushed, quick I don’t know what word to use. Also felt like the FMC was a little annoying not realizing what she needed to do. Cliffhanger!! Still want to continue  the FMC turned into a badass at the very end of the book.

Solid installment. Protagonist remains barley likeable at times, fairly predictable in her emotionality which is a minor complaint. Good pacing and story progression with some decent surprises along the way.
