I read Nia, Be mine first, so i was interested in this one. While it's a page turner, the romance focus was on Nia and Sandro, Dave and Marrissa got little quality time and i dont remember them even kissing. The suspense was thrilling though.

Iif your looking for a romantic thriller with a HEA this isn't for you, there's not even a HFN...vety disappointing but it leads to the rest of the series i guess. I just won't be reading it.

My first mob themed book. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I thought I had things figured out at several different points, but I was wrong. I look forward to reading more from Ms. Layne

I found this quite a compelling read, fast paced. The story is generally of one woman's revenge on her Mafia family and for me, quite uncomfortable at times. I know these things exist but as I prefer the ostrich approach, stories like this do make me uncomfortable if I think of them in RL.
Marissa, the 'Good Daughter' is the central character and has suffered extremely at the hands of her family. She felt kind of closed off to me, I didnt get to feel how she was thinking but in terms of her as a character, that was how she survived her family, so well written. I was happy she got what she wanted.
Nia was kick ass, and probably my favourite of the main characters. She was a real momma bear, never giving up.
Dave, the FBI guy, was a bit secondary to the girls, not the squeaky clean type and went back on his word to Marissa - boo!
I didnt really get too much of a feel for Sandro, despite him being action hero of the book. Though you feel his desperation.
There was quite a bit of characterisation of the Mafia men, mostly making me feel revulsion of them, though Angie had his moments - I hope never to come into the range of any people like this!
So, a good read, enjoyable wasn't quite the word but the story did pull me along,  and whilst the ending wasn't all rose tinted glasses, I thought it was fine with the story.
