Recommended to me by the goddess that is Patrice Lawrence when she visited my place of work a few months back, this is a stunning graphic memoir which focuses on the challenges faced by the author growing up trying to find balance between her families expectations and her need to be her real self. Informative, heartbreaking and one that will stay with you for sure.

I loved the art and I think the overall message is important and interesting. For me, I didn’t quite get on with the tone / pace - it wasn’t quite poetry but it didn’t feel quite like an autobiography either.
I much preferred the writing style of the graphic novel / autobiography Persepolis.
