Page after page of writing about places and characters without any emotion tied to any of them - the words spoke of a character's emotion towards a loss of another or a battle, but nothing was ever really "felt" and I could not get myself to care - every time I picked up the book, I would read, and the chapter would bore me enough to have to read again, because I always felt like I missed something - the bulk of what I digested went down like soggy sandpaper, and I enjoy Salavtore for the most part - but this just could not get into my soul - I am sure that it picks up, but I no longer invest in a story that does not have me from the beginning -

I listened to the graphic audio of this and it was awesome and I think everyone should treat themselves to it.
We have a Demon that has escaped and got his army of Goblins and Giants to destroy the humans but a Monk with magical stones that offer different powers, an Elvin trained Ranger and his lover fight along side the humans and Elves to hopefully eradicate the foul spawn.
The audio version offers immersive storytelling and the voices for the elves was just perfect!
This story has common tropes like Elves, Goblins, and Dwarves but they’re nothing like Tolkien style which if fun for me.

So far I am not overly thrilled with this book - Boys get to be Rangers and Girls get to have their ass slapped in the tavern... Blagh... also, Rangers? Elves, Goblins... Is there fiction after D&D? The answer is, of course, yes... but the answer is not here.
Finally gave up. Just too bored.

This book is a great start to the series. The recording on this audiobook is excellent. The different sound effects and the music really add to the different scenes. This story will appeal to fans of the Wheel of Time series.
