I *liked* The Rehearsal and if only I had more enthusiasm for it I'd read it again for all the details. Catton's skill is providing a really interesting point of view and voice for the characters.

I really liked this weird, slightly pretentious novel. It tells two stories that intertwine: the fallout after a sexual relationship between teacher and student in a school and an adjacent drama school that dramatises these events. The blurring of stage and real life is done so well and the reader is often left confused as to which they are reading. It all makes for a unique read- though not as good as the superlative luminaries

Not as riveting as the blurb had me believe.

Unfocused and somewhat lacking a point, but still great, bold and original in so many ways. Might get better on rereading.
