It was entertaining and I liked seeing Charile again. I just think this storyline could've been incorporated into The Good Daughter instead of having it be its own book. I also didn't love the ending. It was rushed and messy.

I rated this 3.5 stars

Charlie Quinn is a lawyer who had her life change dramatically when she was a young girl. So when a 15 year old Girl Scout member asks her for help, Charlie can’t help but do whatever she can to help this girl. But helping this young girl could turn out to be more than Charlie bargained for.

I liked this short story (about 170 pages) which is the prequel to Karin Slaughter’s The Good Daughter (which I have not read). Since it was so short there wasn’t a lot of time for too much to happen, but hopefully it set up the next book pretty well. The chapters were SUPER long which I don’t love but I did like the characters. I thought Charlie was relatable and interesting to read about. The only other character that had a major role in the book was the young Flora, who also had a sad yet interesting back story. I was curious to see how Flora’s story played out because there were many questions Charlie had to find the answer to in order to help this girl.

Overall I did like this book, hoping at some point to read the next part since I did like the main character!
