“I've seen what you truly are, and I've never turned away. I never will. Can he say the same?”

I went into this book really wary; my luck with sequels tends to be very poor, and I thought this one might just be another disappointment. But as I kept reading, I found myself surprised by how much I was enjoying myself with this. I don't think it's better than the first, in fact I think they're pretty equal to each other in terms of quality, which is refreshing in YA trilogies.

My favorite addition to this book has to be, hands down, Nikolai. He was really funny, charming, and such a nice change from all the brooding and sadness of our other main characters. I really hope that he's a major player in Ruin and Rising (and that he has a happy ending, or at least doesn't die).

I finally finished this one! This one took me longer because I was always getting so pissed with Alina. I was so fed up of how an idiot she was becoming. There's a war going on and all she wants is that Mal gives all is attention to her or about more power (yup, I was so getting so done with her). And Mal! Came on man, get your head out of your ass and do something about your life. You can't just go and follow every f-ing thing Alina wants. I really like Tamar and Tolya, my bbys! And Nikolai. I'm totally in love with him.

2.5. This book felt like a filler. Not much happened, and I'm particularly not fond of books where all they do is talk strategy and depict every action that might not necessarily drive the plot or affect the characters' lives in significant ways.
