Listened on audio. Enjoyed learning more about Ms. Lewis. But the themes do get repetitive.

The Mother of Black Hollywood details the life of Jenifer Lewis. Born into poverty in Kinloch, Missouri, Jenifer tells a striking tale of her start in entertainment and the rise to stardom. It is a no-holds barrel memoir and Jenifer does not skimp on the details. From her sex-addiction and living with bipolar disorder to creating drama on sets and the AIDS crisis of the 80’s, it is a roller coaster of life experiences that sounds like a made-for-tv movie. Jenifer is over the top and a force to the reckoned with, but don’t take my words for it – she said so herself!

I would HIGHLY recommend listening to the audio book. Jenifer is a fantastic story teller with strong emotional delivery. She is an entertainer for a reason.

I would NEVER want to read this book because i NEED to hear Ms. Jenifer Lewis read it to me. Her way of storytelling is unmatched! I really felt like i was in a room with her and she was telling a story. I learned so much about her and can’t love her any more if i tried. Cant wait to read book 2.
