Just started this book. I'm loving the series. And I'm glad im not the only one that wants Claire to be with Myrnin >.<
Opening line: Shane's lips felt like velvet against the nape of her neck, and Claire shivered in delight as his breath warmed the skin there.
Closing line: And she kissed him, and kissed him, and kissed him, while the sun came up and bathed Morganville in one last, shining day.
Last Breath is where things start to really get back on track in Morganville! Bite Club was just a taste of better things to come and with Last Breath Caine seems to be back in the writing comfort zone.
Often we come across a book that is very hard to review because we are worried we will give to much away and spoil the story for others. Last Breath is one of those books! If like me you felt a few books in the middle of this series were there just for the sake of it and you're maybe not yet up-to-date I would say keep reading!!
Caine sure knows how to wake you up to this series again and Last Breath was full of just about everything to be honest! Shock deaths, ghosts, a new breed of villains, ideas of a marriage and thoughts of suicide.
I like again how we see the story through the eyes of others rather than just Claire, it obvious why we need these different view points as readers. It was interesting to see things through Amelie's eyes but I felt in this story she seemed weak! She was ready to run from the Draug, the bad guys, and kill those loyal to her because of what they knew. I much preferred the fighting spirit we have come to know from Amelie. She is not alone though, the vampires are scared, actually scared of the Draug and as they start to go missing one by one plans are set in motion for the vampires to leave Morganville and set up shop elsewhere.
Now we all know about Michael and Eve's relationship and we know they want to marry but one has to question this and wonder will Eve turn Vamp? Because why marry Michael when she will age and die and he will not!? or Will Claire come up with a miracle cure and Micheal becomes human again? Something more must happen with these two, it's just got too! And while we are on relationships it's rather obvious how deep and real the love Claire and Shane share is. I would think they'll get married and Claire will go off to MIT and they'll all go together, but hey, that's just my thoughts.
I really enjoyed Last Breath and picked up Black Dawn right after finishing as I needed to know what happened because Caine leaves Last Breath on a bit of a cliffhanger. As I said earlier, if you were getting a little fed up of this series carry on with it, you won't be disappointed in the end!

Rachel seriously stepped up her game in this book. The characters grow and develop, the plot is unique and interesting, the writing is fast paced. Now where's my next one!?
What I love most about this series is there is sooo many books and they never ever get boring, this is number 11 and im already dying to read number 12.. gahh I've really got to wait huh? Luckily not a long wait with number 12 'Black Dawn' expected to be published in May 2012! Phew!
Last Breath was filled with romance, drama, mystery, action and bucket full of suspense, You just had to keep reading.. well least I did.
I reccomend you start at the beginning if you haven't read the rest of the series because you'll get to know the characters and really fall in love with them all and not just that you'll get to understand really whats going on.
When I didnt think Caine had anymore crazy events to pull out the bag I was certainly wrong.. Last Breath has a load of crazyness in there and the turn of events that happned shocked me.. the book had me hooked from the start!
Definately reccomend to anyone who loves vampires.. this rocks!

What a rollercoaster!! In the middle, I was completely heartbroken, and very scared as well... I am not very fond of the new monster in town - very icky and scary, and seems very apt to the task of trying to take Morganville off the map!
Good thing some people came to their senses before it was too late! I also really felt very sorry for Myrnin in this book, poor guy, he really did the best he could with the hand he was dealt.
I do have an idea about how they might be able to get rid of the new monster in town in the next book...
I loved how Claire and Shane interacted in this book, Shane has grown up a little, and is more sure of himself, and what he wants to do with the rest of his life, and that felt really good to read. I also really liked that the Glass-house occupants really had each others' backs - every time it was needed.
Excellent book, now, I guess all I can do is waiting again...

tasers!! that might actually work, as those druags are kind of slippery and gelly-ish and VERY ickyI loved how Claire and Shane interacted in this book, Shane has grown up a little, and is more sure of himself, and what he wants to do with the rest of his life, and that felt really good to read. Let me start off with saying that this book was the best one since the original six. This book made me fall completely in love with the series all over again! I also really loved reading from everyone's PoV! It was really sad when Claire died, but I'm glad that they were able to bring her back. The ending with Shane asking Claire to marry him was the sweetest thing ever, we saw a much softer side to Shane in this book which I really liked.
Michael and Eve are still having a tough time but I really hope they can get married when all this with the Draug is over with. I can't wait to see what happens to Amelie in the next book!!!
Bottom line: this book was amazing and I have high anticipations for the next one.

This book was amazing from start to finish. It it defiantly worth the 5 stars. If you haven’t started this series yet, don’t be intimidated by the amount of book you have to read to catch up, because once you start, you’ll be unable to put them down until you have reached the very end.

This drove me insane!! I was really bored when the big 'omg' happened. I didn't expect it but I was kind of expecting something not right to happen. We've had bad things happen to Shane, Michael and Eve so of course drama was going to fall on Claire (not that it doesn't always) however I just was a bit oh okay. Interesting how that was handled etc.
I love Myrinn he is awesome I always find him hilarious. Better than Claire and I don't like Shane. Waste of space hes so stupid and immature.
The ending of this book sucked. Majorly sucked it was like 'poof' good bye.
Kind of interested in how this all ends though, only what 5 more to go?

Though the draug thing is a little odd, the events of this book played out quite nicely. I think it might be more that I can't quite wrap my head around the true vampire enemy...it might because they're so slippery.
Like always, this leaves a person hanging, wanting more. I can't wait to read the rest!

One of my favourites in this series.I really liked the concept of the new villain that was introduced-I thought it was quite creative and imaginary, and it made sense as to why Amelie chose to build Morganville where it is.
I'm hoping that this will be similar to Bishop's plot where it is not resolved in two books but over 3-4, to really build up the suspense and evidence that the villain is challenging to defeat. I think this villain being defeated any shorter than 3 books would negatively impact on the storytelling and the intimidation of the villain (after all, its stronger than Bishop.)
