I never thought I'd enjoy a romance between a cellist and a violinist this much. Gwen and Xander come from different backgrounds, but they both share a talent and love for music. I honestly didn't know what a lot of the musical terms were, but most of them are intuitive and not necessary to actually know. The story automatically has a deeper feel to it with the musical backdrop as the basis on which the romance is built; you can feel the passion the characters have for music and each other. There is a touch of a miscommunication/third act break-up trope, but it is well done and didn't irk me since it wasn't super dramatic.

This was my third Julie Soto book, and it landed in the middle for me; I liked it a little better than Forget Me Not but not as much as Rose in Chains (which was immaculate!).

DID NOT FINISH: 7%

just boring. also felt weird that Gwen was so fixated on Henry being her “person” and disappointed he turned out gay so he couldn’t fulfill that fantasy. I understand it is meant to be a sort of explanation for her attachment style/ where she begins healing and gaining independence or whatever, but the fantasy felt off. what if he wasn’t gay and just…. didn’t want to be with her? idk i didn’t like it
