𝗥𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴: ☆☆☆☆ 4/5
Sometimes a bit obvious what was going to happen, other than that such an interesting read, with a lot of amazing (side) characters. I'm not sure how musically correct it is, but it felt realistic to me. So far, Julie Soto has not let me down with her writing.
A lot of my reviews are also available with photo at my Bookstagram: @justmyfantasyworld

I am not really a fan of feeling unfinished after the end of a book and this one left me wanting more.
Although the premise and title of this book was centered around not being a typical cliché love story it was just that in my opinion. It felt really soulmatey and artificial, almost so cliché that I wanted to dnf it. The plot itself was forseeable and it did not really address all hardships, the climax was barely a climax.
Of course sometimes especially the characters were lovable. Found family and finding your people is always lovely to see and it touched me. Sadly that was the only part I loved.
𝗪𝗵𝘆 2 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘀? ⭐
I settled for 2 Stars because the found family aspect touched me but the rest of the book did not win me over. Of course this opinion is only mine and I am sure others will love this one. I was just expecting a non cliché story due to the title and I felt like the fmc was a bit "weak".

This is exactly the story we deserve! I'm just blown away by everything in their story. From the writing, to the plot, to the way Soto describes music and the feelings and emotions it evokes. I mean, I don't even know where to begin. I loved her novel Forget Me Not, and this just solidified that she'll now be an auto-buy author for me. There is no way I won't have a good time reading a novel she writes.
We have a grumpy MMC who can't keep his eyes off the FMC for like the whole novel. Which is one of my favorite Micro Tropes. Where the FMC risks a glance in the MMC's direction, but he's already looking at her 🥵 I eat it up EVERY time. And he's a jerk to everyone but her. Alex was down bad for our girl, and I was here for it. I also enjoyed that this was "Rock Star Romance," but with a totally different spin on the trope. 🎻
Gwen has been seventh chair in her orchestra for years. And now she's been given the opportunity for First Chair of the strings, much to Alex's dismay. He can't stand that she won it over him. He's rude, grumpy, disrespectful, and always late to rehearsal. But they can't deny their chemistry. Once they play alone together, they realize what they have is more than just a good working relationship. It's everything.
Highlights:
🎻Professional Musicians
🎻Workplace Romance
🎻Grumpy X Sunshine
🎻Obsessed MMC
🎻Intense Eye Contact
