What a strange book, definitely will stick with me for a minute because I was not expecting where it took me. Quite a different story line from other psychological thrillers/mysteries I have read recently, which was nice. The ending really blew my mind!

I really enjoyed this one.

Chandler Baker is so good at writing about women's issues in ways that make you think while entertaining you. [b:The Whisper Network|57353781|The Whisper Network|Chandler Baker|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1628973986l/57353781._SY75_.jpg|61072596] tackled sexual harassment and assault in the workplace. In her latest, The Husbands, she points out how women could really "have it all" if only the men in their lives did their fair share without having to be told to. How far would you go to effect that kind of change in your significant other?

As the synopsis states, the plot is basically a gender swapped Stepford Wives. Which isn't really an equal thing to me. Men programming women to be completely docile and subservient is just them making things as they think it should be. The natural order, right? If women do that to men, they're simply making things equal. But clearly, no one should be "brainwashing" anyone in order to control them..

I enjoyed reading from Nora's point of view, I liked her. I even felt so bad for her. It also kind of bothers me that so many women complained in their reviews that she whines too much. That she should've just told her husband what she wanted him to do. Did we read the same book? No one should have to constantly tell someone to help do the things that keep the household they're a part of running smoothly. I don't think I'm going out on a limb here saying that the majority of chores and organization required in our daily lives become a woman's responsibility. We're all brought up to believe that's just the way it is. Gotta love that patriarchy!

Oh no, this review has turned into a rant. Okay, just give this book a chance. Surely you can relate to Nora in some way or know someone who can. Or if like me, you've never been married and have no desire ever to be, you can still empathize with her. With all women forced to shoulder all burdens with no complaints lest you be accused of whining...

Okay, okay, I'll see myself out.
