This was an adorable graphic novel with a cute sapphic side plot. The plot is very simple, with not much more to it than what's in the summary, but I'm glad it wasn't padded with filler. This way the story was short and sweet, taking just as long as it needed and no longer. The character interactions were really the star of the show, here.

While anyone can appreciate the love story, I feel the themes of being fundamentally misunderstood by family will resonate strongest with a queer audience. I wouldn't go so far as to say that the magic in this story was a metaphor for anything, but Orla's struggle certainly had parallels.

Sas Milledge packs a lot of punch into these 5 short issues. Sweet on the surface but with some interesting thoughts on obligation and mutuality lurking just below. A fast and worthwhile read.

I love the art for this book!! dynamic lines, muted colors, and enough detail to be alluring without becoming overwhelming. It perfectly complemented the tone of the story—which I also loved. The plot is straightforward, allowing room for the characters to gradually reveal their shifting emotions and beliefs. I'm glad I own this book so that I can revisit it.
