The story takes place in Connecticut. My home state. So it was fun to see so many references to places especially Beardsley Park which is not far from where I live. It is told from dual POVs. One by Joanna who cooks, cleans and takes cares of the children while Leo seems to be oblivious to it all and the other POV is by Piper who recently moved from the West Coast to start over and wants to do that with Leo and his children.

Little by little Piper “steals” the children from Joanna who refuses to give up. However this does send her spiraling making it difficult to gain access back to the children.

Wow. The twist in this book. I had no clue. I can usually guess what it is or at least be a bit close. I wasn’t. At all. I actually had to go back and re-read that page. This is the fastest I’ve read a Liv Constantine book. They are one of my favorite thriller writers!  Highly highly recommend!!

And don’t miss the TV movie adaptation on the Lifetime network on March 29!! It’s already on my calendar!!

5 stars!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Good story overall. Reminded me a little of The Last Mrs. Parrish. That ending though, felt a little rushed and I wished there were more context about who Joanna really was (her real identity) and that Olivia was Leo’s wife. I kind of underestimated Piper, but still, she was kind of weird and I won’t think she is who she says she is.

I couldn’t put this down. There’s a twist I didn’t see coming and I ended up re-reading the whole book to make sure I didn’t miss anything.

The Wife Stalker
by Liv Constantin
In the beautiful town of Westport, Connecticut, we find Piper, who just relocated here from the West Coast, trying to escape her troubled past while reinventing herself. She is opening a wellness center that would focus on both body and mind, on improving all aspects of someone's life through yoga, mindfulness and physical exercises, affirmation, inner and emotional therapy. In this town, we also have the very successful (and married) lawyer, Leo, who is recently coming out of his severe depression, while Joanna, always at his side, is there all along, helping him get his life back on track, so they can have the peaceful house they once had prior to him sliding off into those dark places. Joanna doesn’t want to regret putting her career on hold to take care of Leo and the beautiful kids, Evie and Stelli, and she wants to make sure this perfect family picture would stay like that now that Leo is back to being his charming self again. So, she suggests Leo would try this new wellness center, convinced it could only help with his recovery. However, she can sense that her life starts to be shattered by the new interest Leo develops in the very sexy and successful Piper, the owner of this retreat center. Next thing you know, Joanna is out there fending for herself, sent to live with her crazy mother, while Leo falls head over heels for Piper, moving her into his house and family, as soon as Joanna has been removed. From here on, we have a whole snowball of events, one more shocking than the other, uncovering more and more layers of complicated events from each of these characters’ past lives.
Told from the dual point of view of both, Piper and Joanna, we are faced with a two-fold reality, not knowing who is the hunter, who’s the prey, as both approaches are rather unreliable  and vary according to the narrator: is Joanna the victim wronged by the man she loved all her life, or is it Piper, who, so slyly, sneaks inside the family, trying to grasp the love and admiration of not only Leo, but the children as well?
Set in the lovely town of Westport, Connecticut (which was honestly the main feature enticing me to read this book), the story unfolds at a high speed, with characters and story well developed, with an intense dynamic not only between the old and the new couple, but also the relationship between parents and children, stepparents and caregivers. The beautiful writing, the smooth, yet energetic plot combined with the totally unexpected twist will make this book the perfect summer thriller!
