Didn't know you could make such a compelling story sound so damn boring! Just listen to the MFM episode. 😒

I felt that the narration for this was somewhat stilted, which may have been the result of the author finding it difficult to talk about such emotional events in her own life and needing to distance herself from them.

This was an interesting story, but a lot of it is speculation. While I enjoyed it, I felt like it was kind of long for what it actually was.

TIL: international orange live vest regulation was partly due to the Bluebell tragedy.

A compelling story that's sadly lost a lot in the telling. Because of the circumstances, many questions remain unanswered and probably will never be fully explained. But what is known - and knowable - could have been told better. It's a bit ironic when the author thanks the publisher for daring to edit, when this book should have been edited much harder. Or written by a professional author.

The story of Tere (Terry Jo) Duperrault is fascinating and compelling, but the quality of writing is so terrible that it's distracting. I enjoyed the book, because the tragic and miraculous survival story of Tere is so engaging in its own right. However, the writing... oh the writing. So bad.

I thought this book was going to be from Teres perspective, instead her co-author seemed to hijack the entire book and write the entire ordeal in a weird clinical way. He then laid out an extensive biography of the perpetrator, which was weird. The short epilogue written by Tere had more soul and compassion than the rest of the book.

I wanted to love this book, but feel I would have liked it better if told by Terry Jo herself. There was also too much focus on Julian Harvey, the captain of the ship. Still an amazing story and I'm glad I listened to it!
