This was funny as shit. Plenty of play on words, tropes, narration, etc. It doesn't take itself serious which works for the super candy land colorful setting but quickly turning to gore and violence. Sadly i do think it could have used a little more character development for Gertrude. But it's clearly just a graphic novel for good laughs and some incredible artwork.

Mental hyper-violence at its best. A little predictable but that's OK. Artwork is incredible.

I really expected to like this so much more than I did. Unfortunately, it's one of those books where the premise is the only joke. Gertrude was whisked off on a quest to Fairyland when she was eight years old; twenty-nine years later, she's still stuck there and spends her days brutally killing all the cutesy creatures who get in her way. And...that's it. I mean, there is a plot, but tonally, this book is the same on every single page. It's not that funny or clever, and it kind of bummed me out.

You know, I myself hate Fairyland. It was nice up until the crown was passed ahead and shit. Gertrude sucks bad, i spent all this time lamenting for Larry because yes, we do have some bosses that also act like a thirty year-old in a child's body. (Or even worse: a child in a thirty something's body)
And I was actually expecting Cloudia to shred the little bastard. Alas. Onward we go, I guess.

This was hilarious, I laughed out loud multiple times. I loved the not so happy-go-lucky take on getting sucked into a fairyland & essentially not being able to get out without a fight (or 7). I thoroughly enjoyed the sarcasm and the completely understandable terrible attitude towards all of the everything she went through on her journey to get out of a place she never asked to be. After 27 years there not aging & being stuck in the body of a child I think I would have much the same response... maybe I found this to be a little too relatable. The artwork was fantastic & wonderfully (horrifically?) detailed. If you’re a little deranged with a bit of a twisted sense of humor I think you’ll like this book.

This is gory with blood, bones and brains all over the place, but it’s done in a laid back and fun way. It’s over the top but not horrifying. The artwork and colors are fantastic. I enjoyed the used of terms like “hugger fluffer” and “muffin fluffin”, instead of real curse words. The story was a bit flat for me and Gertrude was a tad annoying. I liked her guide Larry more.
