Forget Hallmark meets smut this was definitely lifetime meets smut. Dakota is fantastic. She speaks her mind, a little crass and all kinds of spicy. Ryder is all
Sunshine and sugar and a truck load of baggage. These two together are so fun. Add in her absolutely insane family and this book is sugar and spice and everything nice!!!

I laughed

There were moments when I laughed. Then there where the times I stopped and thought this was like Married at First Sight or my 90 day Fiancee vibes going on. I don't even know if the characters knew what was going on at some point. The pacing was wonky and the plot was barely there.

I love this book. By the end of the first chapter, I was already giggling. That family is so over the top. They love each other, but boy, do they squabble at times. The chemistry between Ryder and Dakota was hot and passionate. This is a most definite must-read.

Palate cleaner read. Short and funny and love story.

Simply Magnificent

I’m not crying, you’re crying! Seriously, the more Alina Jacobs books I read, the better they get. Dakota is a no-nonsense taking woman that will fight tooth and nail for her family. Ryder is an orphan hockey wiz. I get so caught up in Alina’s stories, they just come to life. This was absolutely, heartbreakingly amazing and hilarious. Another win for Alina!

Christmas is a time when family heads out to do good, even if it is meddling and unwanted. Granny Murray sets out on a quest to find her granddaughter Dakota a husband. Where does Granny go? The captain of the hockey team where she picks Ryder as a good prospect. With an overly large and loud family, she is beside herself when her younger brother pleads to her to break Ryder's heart so they loose the big game. All to settle a gambling debt. I think he should be far more afraid of Granny than any bookie! A laugh out loud all the way thru book. Granny is a hoot!!

I’ve read another book by this author, Good Elf Gone Wrong, and even though both plots were equally nonsensical, for some reason that book really worked for me. This one unfortunately didn’t. I had trouble getting past how ridiculous this plot was, and I really struggled with disliking the main female character. But I gave it a star for Ryder going from cinnamon roll to having great dirty talk during the spicy scene. It gets two stars instead of one for that reason alone.
