This book reminded me of Heidi by Johanna Spyri and Freckles by Gene Stratton Porter. Both have a sickly child that gets well by good pure food and time spent outdoors in nature and a new and deep friendship. They also all include a orphaned child.

Good discussion can be had about “the great good” or “Magic” as Collin sees it in all things. The power of positive thinking.
