It was weird. Not horrible, just very weird. I've heard some of his other stuff is good, so if you like this author, it's worth a read. Otherwise, I wouldn't make this the first book of his you read.

I’m not sure what the hell I just read, to be honest. Spider bites, condom/tampon storms, rabies epidemics, car crashes, time travel, possible incest, and much more...all in one book!

This is a very difficult book to rate, because every time I thought I was starting to like it, it would take another weird, gross or confronting turn (so gratuitous!!). Some of the concepts and world building were really good. Many were messy and bewildering - following the 'twist'/reveal, some of the concepts were over-explained while at the same time not really making any sense.
Not like any other book I’ve read for sure, but I don’t think that’s a compliment in this case.

Oral history with a slow start and extreme concepts. A rabies super spreader disrupts the order in a futuristic but divided society (day and night people). The deprived night people stop playing their roles and embrace the chaos of disease and violence out of boredom and lack of opportunity. Story comes together very well at the end as the loop seals itself off.
Absurd and ridiculous, incredible and terrible. So unique.
