When asked in an interviw during the Rant reading, he said he tries to write books that they can't make a movie out of. I thought it was achieved in Invisible Monsters, and I never really saw the appeal of Echo. The paragraph perspectives that composed the book made it awkward to read at first, but this book made me look back in his work and reading reviews on this site about how people don't understand his following, and don't care for him, I think I have the answer. Chuck makes science fiction out of our dreary evry day lives; the stay at home mom, or twenty-something with a desk job, the townies, drop-outs, and blue collars are told our lives repackaged in the world of Chuck, and we like it. It makes are mediocrity feel full of possibilities, if you're happy with mediocrity or crave deep sci-fi it's not for you, just us
i like that palahniuk pushes the boundaries of modern novel writing, and tries new things. i thought the oral history format of this book really worked. definitely an interesting look at epidemics today and in history.

Absolutely amazing! Messes with you in a fantastic manner. I want to read it again now that I know what's going on. ^_______^
Chuck P. He stole my heart with Fight Club. Another quality effort. Screwed up, of course, and hard to put down.

A welcome return to form after the disappointing "Haunted." It's a book that will make you think, but that's why you read isn't it.
This is my favorite Palahniuk book! Every time I pick it up, I catch something new! It's interesting, funny, and a lot to handle. Every couple of years I'll pick it up and read a little bit of it. Also, the audiobook, with a full cast, is fantastic.
