I've read everything Palahniuk has written, but this was the first time I've had to set down the book for an hour or two and walk away because I was so grossed out. After the first 50 pages or so, though, I got into the story and style more, and ended up enjoying it quite a bit. Fast-paced, choppy, surreal... all the things I've enjoyed in his other works.

Hilarious and disgusting, disturbing and immensely thought provoking. Oh, and confusing as all get out, but worth it.

Two extremely cool concepts, the peak boosting and the party crashing and, as usual (for Chuck Palahniuk), wasted on the most boring and unlikable characters imaginable.
I really like the world but the book spent too much time on Rant's poison addiction and weird unnecessary dick stuff so there wasn't space left to expand upon the world in any meaningful way. This could have been such a cool science fiction novel but instead it's just more of Chuck's weird lists of "fun facts", ableism, and slurs.
Disappointed again but two stars for the mere potential. The idea was there. The writing style was really fun. The characters were impossible to keep track of and when I got to the list of them at the end I didn't remember most of them. This book could have been amazing, it just needed MORE (but yeah also less of the dick stuff and the spiders).

This is my favorite from Palahniuk. The plot is inexplicable and amazing. How does one describe it? A group of people discuss the life and times of one Rant Casey a la interview musings Citizen Kane style. The plot enfolds in pieces, with the information just kind of thrown out there with no explanation, with the interviews all bringing everything together in turn. It's very complex, creative, and ground-breaking really. I can't say much more without spoiling things, but so many revelations were completely JAW-DROPPING too me. Palahniuk is a true original who writes with no limits.

It sure took me a very long time getting this book over and done with. Not really my cup of tea but I do like Chuck Palahniuk's writing though. haha!

My favorite CP book. The ending is so good. It is a little dense at first. You know the least amount of information. As you go, the story builds and twists on itself as you piece the life of Rant together. A bit of mystery and romance , a little bit of tragedy and heartbreak, a lil bit of sci-fi and a whole lot of weird.

Im always a fan of Chuck's books. This one I may need to read again just because there was SO much information in it to absorb. I feel like I would get a better grasp on the story after reading it a second time.

Exquisitely strange— I enjoyed this book overall but found some parts too gruesome and cruel
