I don't know how to rate this. The book is good; I've read it before. The translation leaves much to be desired. Considerable amounts. The only jokes that land are those built into the story and can't be avoided. Any joke that relies even a bit on wordplay were left by the roadside looking for their hats. And even then, they weren't funny.
I read it because I try to read at least one book in German a year, I'd already read this one, so I knew what happened, I know the Shakespeare references, so I figured I had a chance with the famous quotes paraphrased and translated. And I got the book for free a couple years ago. I wouldn't recommend this book if you have any ability to read and understand the English. I had to constantly remind myself to pretend that I could only understand it in German and it made me slightly less upset about the translation, but only slightly.
