Witches, murdering the king to take over the throne, veiled references to fairy tales, the theater. This Discworld book focuses on witches rather than wizards this time, and somehow Pratchett manages to keep a fairly lighthearted story despite offering commentary on some rather heavy topics.

I think the Discworld series may be starting to grow on me. I liked this book better than several of the previous ones I've read (currently reading them in publication order).
