It’s nice to get back to the Witches after reading an early Rincewind story, because this series is far and away better. Granny Weatherwax returns from Equal Rites and she’s as amazing as ever, but Nanny Ogg and Magrat are welcome editions to the story. They create a fantastic triumvirate that plays off each other expertly and in the comedic way you’d expect from Terry Pratchett.

I loved all of the Shakespeare references as well, especially those to Hamlet and Macbeth. The story was solid, but I do think the way that the witches interacted with each other was gold. I loved this one, and it was this book that really began my love for the witches series.
