Ok this was a book that promised two things - romance and adventure, and I got neither. This book was serious lacking in a basic plot though in the beginning it seemed as though it would actually go somewhere. The chapters were suddenly placed as though she didn't like a certain piece and deleted it but a general outline of it came in the next chapter as a tiny paragraph. One minute she gets knocked on the head and next-bam! She's packing clothes to leave. Seriously, WTF? It's not like 300 ish pages is too small to finish a book. There are so many brilliant books I've read that have been that length. The brilliance I saw in Trylle just vanished in this book. Characters were not developed, and nothing was found/revealed as the book went along, but somehow I managed to finish this book. For that alone I give it that extra star. And I will be reading the next book with some hopes that it actually goes somewhere this time.

i expected more from this story. more action, more emotion, more plot, more reason for there to be a second and even third following it.

the summary sounds exciting but unfortunately it just doesnt hold up. the love interest is weak and i didnt care. the plot was largely absent and i didnt care. the main character didnt know what she was doing half the time and looking back, im really not sure how that story took up over 300 pages. im trying not to bash it because it tried, it just fell very short of its goal.

I had the opportunity to read Amanda's stuff when she was just coming into the physical publishing world. I actually own a copy of Switched that is only the first 150 pages or so. When I read it, or rather devoured, I immediately sought out every e book of hers I could find. To purchase the physical versions of her books is on my To Do list.

The world she has created in the Tyrlle and Kanin is really unique. She writes these fantastical creatures in a brand new way that makes them like-able and interesting to read. The plot is well crafted for a series so far, it builds without release but also without cliffhanging. She's engaging without being cruel to the readers who have to wait a year or two for the next book. I love that she pulls in the Tyrlle without alienating readers who don't know them.

I might have to wait a bit for budget reasons, but Ice Kissed is on my list of books to purchase as soon as possible.

I really enjoyed Frostfire and it was fun to re-enter the Trylle world, especially learning about and seeing more about the other troll tribes that were only mentioned in the first trilogy. Bryn is a really interesting and fun protagonist, and I really like Ridley as a love interest. The mystery is strange and intriguing as well as there are a few fun cameos that fans of the original trilogy can enjoy!

I'm not exactly sure how much I liked this book. It was good, but that's it. There was nothing else to it. I'm not even sure what I'm supposed to be worried about. So the villain isn't exactly the villain? What is he, exactly? What is the point of our heroine not having supernatural powers while everyone else does? To make her less of an overpowered girl like so many other YA heroines? It was kind of pointless.
I'm so confused about the ending. It was like the end of a chapter, and you'd expect to turn the page and read more about what the heck is happening (I'm still wondering what the heck IS happening, to be honest?!), and it's just over? Worst. Ending. Ever. And not even in a plot-twisty way. It just ended and it was kind of anti-climactic.
I'm still planning on continuing this series, just so I can say I didn't give up, but I'm not super interesting in these books. I practically had to force myself to read this book, and that rarely happens with me.

I didn't really have any big problems with Bryn, but I hated how the author made her super-special-different-than-absolutely-everyone-else.

I even made a list

1. Her Skojare looks (blonde hair, blue eyes)
2. She's drop-dead gorgeous
3. She's one of the best trackers in the kingdom
4. Her father just happens to be a very high-ranking official
5. She's not just Skojare, the Skojare Queen just happens to be her cousin
6. The guy she likes has loved her for years, no complications

...need I go on?

Another thing I didn't like was the names. "Aven" and "Dresden" just sound too similar/cookie cutter for me. Say them out loud.

But my biggest problem was that there was a character named Queen Mina Strinne.
