I loved the book. My favorite part was the fact that the main characters were ones who weren't really important anymore in the series. They were important in the first series but they weren't so in the following three. Another cool part was mention and connection with the fifth clan, Skyclan. I feel that this clan is kinda forgotten in the Warrior books.

Well...this book was not what I was expecting. Not sure if that's good or bad.
I thought Warriors' writing was getting better after Dawn of the Clans and the latest novella collection that contained Mapleshade's Vengeance. But...the start to this series was rather boring until the last couple of chapters.
For starters, the new characters are rather flat and annoying. Sparkpaw is your typical annoying apprentice. And, she is just like her mother, Squirrelflight, when she was an apprentice. Alderpaw was ok at first but after a while he gets a little irritating. And...Needlepaw. Don't get me started on her. Never have I ever wanted a character to die off as much as her. She was annoying and unnecessary, and she actually had me rooting more for ThunderClan than ShadowClan. (And PLEASE STARCLAN, PLEASE don't let their be a love interest between her and Alderpaw. PLEASE.)
The Clans seem to be as anti-ThunderClan as ever. I mean, Firestar is dead now, everyone should be over it. But nope, every other Clan seems to still hate ThunderClan.
As usual, a group of cats had to go on a journey. Now, I won't say what this journey was about, but it definitely had me wondering what would happen. My curiosity about the outcome is what kept me reading, but...it was anti-climatic. Yes, it was a little interesting when the group got to their destination, but it's painfully obvious that something is wrong. They pretty much arrive, realize something is wrong, and leave. And that's it. Nothing is solved in this one. And better yet, the ending had me like "WHY???" because...well, what happened was so immoral. Like, splitting up littermates and putting each one in a different Clan immoral. Yeah, that's all I'll say about that.
Gosh, I hope the series gets better. Based on the preview for Thunder and Shadow, Littlecloud is going to die and Leafpool (of all cats) is going to go over there since ShadowClan is lacking a medicine cat! Great StarClan, that means more Needlepaw, doesn't it?
This is probably the longest review I've ever written and, since it's about a book in my favorite series, I suppose I owe the authors some respect. Some things I like about this book are: we may get answers about the fifth Clan, it is a little bit different than before (I mean, sure, I did not expect for the journey to fail), and we do get to say proper goodbyes to beloved characters who have been around since Into the Wild.
I've been a huge Warriors fan for almost a decade, so I'm in no way giving up on it yet. I'm just hoping that the series picks up after this one, because I was a little disappointed. I still have faith; there is always that "one book" per arc that kind of falls off.
