The pacing, especially the romantic pacing is pretty bad. Otherwise, a very fun story about a young woman in Paris, feels like an Audrey Hepburn film. I do recommend!

It didn’t seem all too bad at first with teddy and larry, as we’re thrown into her already being in Paris for a while. But with Jim, I couldn’t feel the weight of their relationship whatsoever. Their breakup and how she dealt with it was written very well, but it felt empty.

There are a lot of really great lines in this novel about 21-yr-old Sally Jay Gorce. Lots of modern girls will relate to her. Even though I've never lived abroad (she's in Paris) I related to her and it made me think of my life at 21. She wants glamour, love, fun...not very ambitious or hardworking, kind of a drifter. She does some acting, has affairs, gets into trouble. It surprised me that she ended up with =---I don't want to give it away, but the end surprized me.

GAH I loved this, it was fun. I’m not sure it will ever hit the spot with any future version of me like it does with 22 year old me, but that’s half the joy. I imagine this is how 16 year old boys feel when they read ‘The Catcher in the Rye’. Except happier.

Really fun and funny, honest and heartfelt in spots too. We all should have had as much fun as Sally Jay in our 20s...

Visit 1950's Paris with 21-year-old all-American cynic Sally Jay and you are guaranteed to wish you could put on an evening gown before noon and down copious amounts of Pernod.
