I got a very specific joy while reading this book, something I hadn't had in a long while. Totally charming.

This is about an American girl in the 50s who is traveling in Paris. She's an aspiring actress. But it's sarcastic and smart enough that you don't feel like you are reading total chic-lit. The plot follows some of her love affairs, and I was definitely shocked, because this book is a little bit more racy than I would have thought. It was originally published in the late 1950s, so I guess I just expected it be more conservative. However, the way it reads is a little antiquated, I guess it's more 50s slang. There was definitely a "jiving" in there! It took a little getting used to. I also love how it's one of those plots that starts in the middle, then backtracks and fills you in.

But, the climax was WAY at the end of the book. All of the sudden it started moving so fast and was over. It was an interesting read, but not a fav.

The book was okay for me until the last couple of sections. Then, fabulous!
