I had an incredibly hard time with this one. Dharma Bums meets Daisy Miller? If I feel like being reductive.
And I really wanted to like you, too.

for the first half i was like "oh sally jay, you are like if bertie wooster was an american girl with no jeeves" and then i got more pity for her, and then the ending was a big shrug emoji, idk
One of those characters where absolutely every decision she makes is the opposite one you would make - sometimes to hilarious effect, but usually to annoying effect. Also, the character strangely hates librarians.
so witty and joyful, very happy i read it!! it would be the perfect holiday read i think but rlly brought me out of the blues :) v v glamorous
3.5: the unlikely and uneven offspring of Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, Good Morning, Midnight, and The Bell Jar. A fun romp through 50s Paris with a semi- innocent abroad, but with dark undertones and questionable gender politics when read in our post-me too moment.
Struggled to get into this one though did find some parts very funny. Might come back to it one day in the future to give it another chance.
