I really liked it. Almost couldn’t put it down. A bit unsattisfying end but other then that i enjoyed it! Would recommend checking trigger warnings though.

Brilliant example of a horror novel. Genuinely one of the best books i have yet to read in the genre. The horror isnt extremely in your face but it is still deeply unsettling. Its a bit of a slow burn. The way its written constantly challenges the notion of if Regan is truly possessed or just mentally ill, which mirror social beliefs and functions in a brilliant way. It really haunts you. The movie is, of course, iconic. But the way the book is constructed just flows and builds so much better. A must read for horro fans.

Not sure if this was based on a true story or not, I read the book before I read the description. But it did feel very realistic. The life of a woman trying to make her way through an artistic career, having issues with an absent ex-husband and juggling her career, raising her daughter and her social life.

But then when her daughter starts to show a decline and issues, she leaves it all to pursue any medical assistance mone can buy.

It takes a long time for the most obvious solution (given from the title, I immediately figured it would be demonic possession), but then again it is not something you assume its happening, you can play with idea of religion, demons, hell but you never expect that reality to hit you in the face especially in the form of a demonic possession. We even have religious people doubting that conclusion.

Even after the solution is reached that they need, a big surprise, an exorcist. That could not be any big shock to anyone.

I did not feel it scary but more like a thriller, you are on the edge of the seat waiting for the way the exorcist will play out.

It is a very good story and wholly enjoyed my time reading it. I felt it was a very long time reading it because I was so engrossed in the story that I was very impatient while trying to get to the end and know how it was solved. Even if it did not take too long, I managed to finish it in two sittings.

I picked this book as a book to read in the downtime at work, it proved to be a bad idea. Every time I had to stop reading due to actual work I would feel annoyed, not the best because I could not let my annoyance show on my voice, but oh well. I had to finish it off work.

I gave this a 4 -star rating.
