The Exorcist is absolutely frightening in the first half, but the horror gives way to a beautiful rumination of guilt, faith, and responsibility.

Brilliant example of a horror novel. Genuinely one of the best books i have yet to read in the genre. The horror isnt extremely in your face but it is still deeply unsettling. Its a bit of a slow burn. The way its written constantly challenges the notion of if Regan is truly possessed or just mentally ill, which mirror social beliefs and functions in a brilliant way. It really haunts you. The movie is, of course, iconic. But the way the book is constructed just flows and builds so much better. A must read for horro fans.

4 stars. I wasn't expecting that ending whatsoever but i think it worked well. This book was a little slow-paced for me personally but I enjoyed it nonetheless. I'd never watched or read any content related to The Exorcist prior to this read so I wasn't expecting such crude horror scenes. I wish it had taken it further as the horror did feel as though it plateaued, not really reaching its full potential in my opinion.

A very trigger heavy, disturbing read. Well written, creepy and unforgettable. Lots of cursing, obscenities and gore.
