Not very happy with this one. John Medina was a terrible romantic interest. I would rather have seen a romance between Niema and the French arms dealer, that would've been way more interesting.

A 3 star read in print (read 2009), I bumped this up one star on audio. In print I remember struggling to get into the book after the exciting first part. I liked it, but wasn't wowed by it. On audio, narrated by Kate Forbes I found myself enjoying all the details and never getting bored. Forbes does an excellent job with both the male and female voices. Her style is to change tone and inflection without trying to make her voice sound masculine. It mostly works and I rarely had trouble following who was speaking. I enjoy Linda Howard, and I'm glad I added All the Queen's Men to my audio collection.

I would have given this 4 stars but the book fizzled a bit toward the end. it was a really great read until then. very alistair maclean, ken follet with attention to detail, great characters. but true to romance form, she took an easy out to move the plot forward. (their going into town to shop and relax). Still, i would look for another one by howard.

If you told me this book was written by a white man id believe you. It is so aggressively male!!! The descriptions of all women feel kinda skeevy, the thoughts of Medina make lots of weird assumptions about how into him women are makes it impossible to look past the praise of the military. Just really missed the mark for me
