If you love cottagecore, spring aesthetic and honey bees then this is for you.

Its a cozy, queer romance dipped in honey and a touch of magic.

I found the dialogue a bit unnatural and scripted, and at times Mari was a bit curmudgeonly but overall it was sweet.

Being out in society didn’t really interest Marigold Claude. She wanted to dance barefoot in the meadow under a full moon and often snuck out of balls to do so. She also daydreamed about the time she spent with her grandmother on the island of Innisfree even though she hasn’t set foot on the island since she was young. One day her grandmother appears at her home and offers to train Marigold as the next Honey Witch. Marigold wholeheartedly agrees to the dismay of her mother, to move into her grandmother’s cottage and become the caretaker and Honey Witch of Innisfree. Throughout the book Marigold learns her craft and the tasks of taking care of the island and it’s spirits. She ends up making a friendly bet with her childhood friend August and his non-believer best friend Lottie that magic is in fact real. Marigold has her talents tested, her heart filled, and proves not only that magic is real but that good will always conquer evil.
Sydney Shields wrote a book that feels like a sweet, warm hug. It’s Bridgerton meets Practical Magic meets A Discovery of Witches with a sapphic love story woven through. If you believe in the magic of nature, this book is for you. It’s the ultimate cozy fantasy and I cannot recommend it enough!

Aggressively fine. Perfect if you like staccato sentences and tell don't show books.
