DNF the audio at 30%. The narrator made the audiobook so confusing with her different accents for voices but not for internal thoughts. I just couldn’t continue.

✨ Review ✨ No Rings Attached by Rachel Lacey

Read this if you like:
⭕️ fake dating
⭕️ one bed
⭕️ a road trip
⭕️ f/f romance

Enough said right?

As Lia heads to her brother's wedding in the UK, her best friend in NYC arranges for her other friend Grace to join her to pretend to be her girlfriend to keep Lia's nosy family off her back. Like any good fake dating story, they realize there's more to their relationship. Grace has sworn off dating for good, but Lia's so good at helping Grace talk out her thoughts that they both wonder what will happen next.

I was a bit nervous going into this book as I didn’t totally love the first one in this duology, but wow did Lia and Grace come through for me. I loved this story and especially loved the intricate history of Grace that she had to deal with and discover throughout the book. I loved how perfectly they seemed to match with one another as well. This book had me crying at work a couple times as there were some big wholesome moments. Very glad to have read this book and even more glad that I enjoyed it as much as I did.

Slow start and the MOST frustrating writing of a British character and family everrrrr, but oh my goodness by the time Lia and Grace were in the US I forgot about all of that and just fell in love with their story. The book went in a completely different direction to what I was expecting and I feel like far too much focus was put on Asher at the beginning for him to not feature in the plot at all. Deffo stick with it and it gets good

Lia Harris agrees to take her best friend’s childhood friend to her brother’s wedding, pretending to be girlfriends. Grace has sworn off dating, but Lia changes it all for her. If you like fake dating, unpacking family trauma, and international love, you’ll like this book.

I enjoyed the book, but it was a little weird for the pacing. The beginning feels rushed and then the middle feels drawn out only before another rushed ending. Both main characters are very negative, but in a way that I felt was realistic to be hardened by previous experiences. It did feel like a lot of their fights could be prevented by just being more open and honest with each other and themselves. It was engaging and interesting, with many aspects I don’t often see in a sapphic romance, which I did enjoy.

This is a very soft three star cause that I didn't love this one as much as I loved the first one. And considering this was one of my anticipated books this year that's very disappointing especially since I felt Lia was one of the best background characters from the first book.

I had to remind myself that these were young 20-somethings because the constant back and forth between Lia and Grace got annoying quickly. It is very repetitive and that Grace would be like "I don't want a relationship" and Leah would be like "I don't do casual stuff" but yet they still kept at the physical aspect of the relationship. That constant back and forth in and from both women who were ultimately and setting themselves up to be hurt got tedious very quickly and just wasn't what I'd been expecting or wanting.

And without getting too much into it because I would be spoilery this is one where the third act whatever it is made me roll my eyes really hard. I was just not impressed.

That said, that's more on the story itself not the writing. And clearly I didn't dislike it enough to stop reading it because I do not hesitate to DNF a book for any reason. The writing still good I still enjoy the author's tone and how they write. This was just a matter of being disappointed that it didn't live up to the hype in my head that I put there.
