Loved this at first and loved Victoria but I felt the book was a little longer than it needed to be and I didn’t believe in the connection between her and Albert.

A 4,5 star reading.
It took me quite a while to read this book but it wasn’t its fault, I’ve been in a bit of a reading slump. But this book was amazing, one of those readings that when you finish, you wish you could forget the plot to start reading again for the first time.
Loved it!!!

I have been missing the TV show so I figured it was a good time to read the book. The actors in the TV show are so great and I pictured them the whole time I was reading. I was disappointed that it ended with her agreeing to marry Prince Albert since she reigned for 63 years, but maybe another book will follow. I will look forward to it!

Taken from the pages of Queen Victoria's diary, this coming of age story will transport you into the life of a young monarch as she takes on the role of Queen alone. I'm finding that while I once shied away from historical fiction books, I have found a new love for them and now seek them out after reading this book. I loved how rich with real history this book was and how you struggled alongside the characters. Being a young Queen is no easy task which you learn to fully understand reading of Princess Alexandrina ('Drina') Victoria's ascent.

The reason I didn't give this book 5 stars is there were certain sections of the writing that felt choppy and lacking the additional detail that the rest of the book had.

Overall, I would certainly recommend this book to anyone who fancies English history or enjoys historical fiction.

Please note: I did receive this book for free from SheSpeaks in exchange for my honest opinion. All words and opinions expressed are my own.

Daisy Goodwin is talented at taking an historical figure and making a good novel. Based on Victoria's diaries Goodwin fills in the blanks and creates the narrative. If you are watching Victoria on PBS the dialogue is largely intact from the book. Fun read.

I wanted to like this book a lot more than I did but was largely disappointed. The storyline with Vicotria and Lord M was intriguing at first but then it dragged on and on. I wanted to learn more about the decisions she made as queen and how she ultimately felt making decisions. What was it like to face the box everyday and did it keep her up at night the weight of being queen. The only side of the queen we see in this story is the average teenager. There must have been more to her than that! I think the author tried to touch on that but it wasn't enough for me. There was only one storyline in this book that could have been resolved in half the number of pages.

3.5 stars.

Loved this book! Definitely one of the better historical fiction books I've read recently. The characters were well developed and interesting. There is some great wit in the writing. One criticism I have is that Prince Albert was referred to as "serious" way too often. There needs to be some other words to describe him. Also, it was super weird/disturbing to read about first cousins falling in love with each other, but that's what happened back then. I'm just glad that's not a thing anymore.

I thought this book was much better than Goodwin's "The Fortune Hunter." I think I liked "Victoria" better because it focused directly on Victoria and the other major figures in her life, rather than focusing on little known side characters. I hope Goodwin writes a sequel to "Victoria!"

I'm very excited to watch the PBS Victoria series now that I've finished this book. From what I've seen of Jenna Coleman in Doctor Who, I think she will do a wonderful job portraying the regal, witty, and stubborn Victoria.

Si viste la serie, el libro es una narración fidedigna de ella y consigue sumergirte en la época victoriana pero con una narración actual.
