This was a little repetitive, and longer than it probably needed to be, but it kept me reading! I couldn't put it down, and finished it much faster than I expected. Guess now it's another TV show that I need to watch!

There were some interesting parallels between Queen Victoria's story, and that of the young (and current!) Queen Elizabeth.

This book was definitely good, but I didn’t love it. For me, it was slow to start, but once I got into the characters and the story, it seemed to move along at a quicker pace. I liked learning the history of Queen Victoria through this novel, and while the romance with her Prime Minister was exaggerated, I’m glad for it. Without that, I’m not sure it would have been nearly as enjoyable. It’s also weirds me out that she married her first cousin. I know that’s just part of history, but ..... 😳

I blasted through it in one day, so couldnt have been too bad, but I didnt find the Albert romance very believable (I know it was fast, but still). Looking forward to the TV series of course.

Victoria if you couldn't already tell is a historical fiction based upon Queen Victoria.

Thank you Wednesday Books for my sending me a copy .

It's a historical fiction meets comming of age story meets monarchy.

The main event of the book was indeed Victoria. She inherited the throne at a very young age. And it was intriguing to see her go through her paces. She was a very brave, likeable, smart and she wouldn't let anyone bring her down about her height or gender. She was ferocious in her dealing. From the day she inherits the throne she starts rebelling against her mother who had kept her smothered. She wouldnt let herself be controlled by anyway. She was strong and she made the decisions herself. But along with all this she was also naive because of her age and she did end up making mistakes some times. Her stubbron steak also didn't help her matters.

This story focused more on family ties, Victoria comming of age and character and romance less on the nitty gritty of British monarchy and politics.

This story focused heavily on Victoria's relationships. First her infatuation with Lord Melbourne than her encounters with Albert.

This was a nice enjoyable story. And it was intriguing to see a teen age monarch do things teenagers do and cause drama.

Overall, this books is an enjoyable historical fiction. Even if some events aren't true it still packs a lot of entertainment.

Never connected to the story, it was boring

I won this book from a Goodreads giveaway. I had high hopes thanks to all the hype, but was sorely disappointed. I honestly only finished due to a sense of obligation for winning a copy. Had I known that this story would be just another tale of a young girl struggling between two crushes I wouldn't have bothered. It was disheartening to see Queen Victoria reduced to a foolish young girl who never comes into her own as a woman.

Plot or Character Driven: Character

As a fan of historical fiction, and particularly ones set during the Victorian Era, I was eagerly anticipating reading this new book. Goodwin delivers an interesting look at the life of one of England's most beloved monarchs and her early years as queen. The story felt real, the characters were engaging, and overall I liked it a lot. Having seen the PBS series based on this novel, I was sad that it ended so abruptly with her engagement to Albert while the series chronicled their lives up to the birth of her first child. Hopefully we will get a sequel that will continue his amazing woman's story as one of England's longest ruling monarchs.
