I think the goal of Daisy Goodwin's books is to get you to see a side of a monarch that you haven't seen yet; but I didn't like this side of Victoria. She was kind of a brat who had to be led by the nose to make anything of herself. But then again, maybe if you were raised in a sheltered palace knowing you would one day be queen of an empire, you'd be like that too

I love the show and I love this book!

I would love to know what was true and was fiction in this account. I found it a bit saccharine for my taste, and Victoria, as pictured here, was a little bit annoying.

I received a copy of "Victoria" from NetGalley for an honest review. I wish to thank NetGalley, St. Martin's Press, and Daisy Goodwin for the opportunity to read this book.

This book was intriguing for me as I was very interesting in the subject matter - Queen Victoria. Unfortunately, it only covered her birth to her engagement. I would have liked it to cover her entire life, but I would guess that there will be other books in this series.

I couldn't quite put my finger on what was "off" to me with this book until I read the Acknowledgements that the author wrote the series "Victoria" for PBS/Masterpiece (which I will definitely watch). It made sense after learning that as the book read as a companion piece to the series - it was reading like a novel rather than a biography. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this, but I prefer a more "meaty" book. However, I will read the next book in the series - if there is one!!

This is definitely a recommend especially for history nerds like me!! Enjoy!!

Very interesting and accurate account of young Victoria. Nice to read a true, realistic story of romance. Cant wait to read the companion books.

Each book within is equivalent to one episode of ITV/PBS series. Not bad but not particularly riveting writing. I found myself preferring the miniseries over the book, which is a rare occurrence for me.
