The first book I read for Cruisin' Thru the Cozies 2022 Challenge. Will list this under Travel.

I liked this book well enough and it was the first book I read in the Charlotte Graham series. I was intrigued due to the issues surrounding Elginism addressed in the book (meaning items removed from one country to another--usually the receiving country is wealthier--as part of cultural looting/cultural vandalism; the Elgin Marbles are probably the most famous examples of this). In Murder on the Silk Road, the stolen items include ancient Buddhist and Taoist statues and manuscripts. The book also mentioned the I Ching, the Book of Changes, which is something I don't know much about and would like to learn more.

I found the book to grab my interest initially, struggled to stick with it after the first murder and the middle, and got me back in with the last two chapters. Will I re-read it? Probably not. But one good thing about it is how I'm now interested in learning more about ancient Chinese works of art and writing and the I Ching.
