I really enjoyed this thriller! I loved how the main character was female & how it also drops in and out of lots of other characters. This really reminds me of detective dramas on tv such as Mare of Easttown. I’m excited that this may be the first book in the series so will definitely be getting the next one! Really enjoyed and thought the whole agriculture concept was quite unique and not like other thrillers I’ve read. Do look up trigger warnings!

I really enjoyed this. It was an interesting change from the usual given the "X-file-esque" nature to the story (hard to describe without spoiling).
It had the usual elements of a police procedural investigating a killer. The main character had a troubled background which we got drip fed to us, incase it was linked to the investigation. Riley also had issues with a colleague who was jealous that she (a woman) had been promoted ahead of him to Sergeant and also spurned his romantic advances after a one night stand.

I think the setting of "small town America" was well down as were the characters. You could really imagine them, think this would work well as a TV series.
Yes the author does give her dramatic licence a good bashing for the ending, but it is called "fiction" for a reason.
As this is the first in a series it will be interesting to see where the story goes in subsequent books. Will it pick up the story of the investigation or Riley's backstory (again not giving details so as not to spoil).
With thanks to the Pigeonhole and Erin for the opportunity to read.
