This is one of the best books I have ever read. I cannot even begin to explain how much I love this book. The writing, the characterization, the plot, the emotions. If you're in your late 20's or older, you will fall in love with these characters and their flaws, which make them so real.

Zevin's writing style is gorgeous and I need more of her in my life. Thank you for writing this. I'm so grateful to have found a signed edition at B&N <3

6/5 stars.

It’s a fun book in being about video-games and the creative process but I do think the author was trying to do too much and seemed to use the book to virtue signal her opinion on every possible issue.

The book has suicide, car-crash, chronic pain, amputation, DV, shooting, death, LGBT violence

I get the hype mostly. Is it the greatest book in the world no, was some of the dialouge cringy, a little, but man is this a STORY. like thats the thing this is just a well crafted story in the way its developed. it felt so real, as if i was reading a biography. i loved the charactrs and felt sympathy for both of them even though they were incredibly flawed, i have it written that they were so dynamic and their relationship was so ahhhh. and the turns that the story takes feel so well crafted and the writing too. i pleasantly enjoyed :)

This is one of the best books I have ever read. Bar none. I was in tears for parts of it and I loved how I felt like Sadie and Sam’s tragedies were mine and their confusions were mine. What a beautiful gift this author has for storytelling. She is Sam and Sadie building a world for the reader to get so lost in you don’t know that you have tears in your eyes until they fall.

Sadie and Sam are twin flames. Closer than lovers. Closer than family. They orbit around each other in a way that neither of them can even help. They’re not two sides of the same coin, they are the same side. Two heads staring at each other. It’s just a gift that she shared them, all their messiness and all their madness, with us.

TL;DR: This book was more than great and I highly recommend it.

“It isn’t a sadness, but a joy, that we don’t do the same things for the length of our lives.”
This book was ALMOST too clever for its own good. Almost. But somehow, Zevin pulled it off perfectly. Smart, funny, reflective, tragic, and redemptive all in one. I get the hype.
It makes complete sense to me that the author’s recommended further reading includes Cloud Cuckoo Land, Stories of Your Live and Others, and The Starless Sea.

this book reignited my love for reading! i had a few bad months when it comes to the books i chose to read and this was so refreshing and interesting i truly couldnt put the book down. i loved all the characters and they had so much depth to them. its important to note its not a romance novel and as an aro person that Despises that genre, i was sooo relieved to find out that this book wasnt going in that direction. as a gamer, this book felt real and believable and just really awesome! definitely one of the most enjoyable reads ive had. despite a lot of dark plot points, it continued to be funny and heartwarming. it felt vey human and cathartic. AND THE SHAKESPEARE REFERENCES!!! im always a slut for those.
