OUCH.
My only complaint was how little we got from Sadie during the last quarter of the book. But now that I write this maybe that was fully intentional. We would get Sam’s side of the story often when he was really going through it, so I was waiting for Sadie’s side to come and it never did. I could be wrong though and maybe her side wasn’t necessary.

I absolutely understand the hype behind this book.

It has so much nostalgia and the characters were so easy to fall in love with.

It was a bit of a slow read, spanning nearly thirty years, but it has a lot of heart 🥹

this was not at all what I expected, I really hoped this would just be about two best friends but even that didn't happen because Sam was clearly in love with Sadie

I thought this book was okay! A good story with good writing and pacing, but definitely overhyped. It didn’t really stand out to me as a ~great~ read. The story itself is about video games and gamers, which I’m not interested in either, but the themes of friendship and coming of age is what kept me reading.

Basically, read the blurb and if it seems interesting to you then read it! And if it doesn’t then skip it! Haha if you can’t tell I’m pretty indifferent about this book.

⚠️ Explicit language (especially at the beginning - it gets somewhat better… kind of…)
