I had looked for this book at libraries for a long time and finally decided to buy it. I have not read anything by Welsh before and so had expectations besides that the title was funny. I enjoyed these stories/novells and for the most part was sad when each ended. But looking back, was it wonderful writing? No. It was good writing, but uneven.

Another great collection of short fiction from Irvine Welsh. I laughed.. I cried.. I cringed.. Welsh has a way of reeling you in and getting you intimate with his characters, and he always finds ways to hit you in the face with something unexpected. I enjoyed this one, and it's got some great stories that I look forward to reading again in the future, but it still didn't quite trump "The Acid House".

This is my first, and possibly my last, Irvine Welsh book. I can appreciate the way he captures dialect and can very vividly set the scene and characterization of all the people in his stories. But I don’t think this grim, grotesque, and gorey sort of fiction is for me.

It did take me a lot longer to read the chapters written in the Scottish accent; some words or sentences I had to read out loud to have any idea what was being said. That being said, that story was my favorite of the bunch.

The first story I didn’t like and I almost didn’t finish reading the book because it was torture porn shit and I was worried that was all the book was going to contain.

I don’t regret reading it but I hope I forget it soon.

I really enjoyed Kingdom of Fife. The rest of the stories were OK, but not Welsh's best.

Was really really disappointed by this book. Normally this is one of my favourite authors but I really think he should stick to novels!

FFS, I'm finally done with it.
I was enthusiast to the idea of reading Welsh's stories but it was such a burden to read. I went through the end just because I can't leave a book unfurnished.
