I didn’t realize this was a trilogy. I think I may have enjoyed it more if I had read the first one instead of reading this ad a stand alone.
I hated this book until about page 200. It was disjointed and choppy, but I loved her first book so I prevailed. The end was satisfying but still enough open questions to justify a third. Beautiful characters.
Let me start off by saying that Everything We Keep was incredibly intriguing, and I fell in love with the story line, the characters, and Lonsdale's writing style. After finishing it, I was so excited that there would be second one.
I breezed through Everything We Left Behind. I wanted to get right down to the bottom of it, and close the book at the end of the day, knowing everyone had their own happy ending and rode into the sunset.
Yes and no.
While the first book focused on Aimee, and her search for her beloved James, this novel focuses on James/Carlos and his struggle to recover the parts of his memory that were locked away from emotional/physical trauma.
This was definitely a real page turner. I like to read at night before bed, and I kept telling myself I would finish a chapter, and then put it down for the night. Cliffhangers prevented me from putting the book down, and it resulted in me staying up super late until I basically fell asleep book-in-hand. Kerry Lonsdale has a realistic, intriguing poetic way with words.
I was thoroughly satisfied with the sequel, and no surprise here, but the ending leaves on quite the cliffhanger as well. I have questions that I need answered. Here's to hoping for a trilogy!

I liked it
It was a good read. It continued with the many twists and turns and like.
Excited to read the third.

First reading the 1st book is a must, to continue the storyline and have a full understanding and feeling for the happenings in the storyline.
This tale goes from past to present and let's us find out so much more around the family.
There's a bit romance, intrigue, family life, an all rounder

Winner of a Kindle Edition Giveaway from Amazon Publishing. 3.5 Stars. I read Book #1 (Everything We Keep) first, so I was familiar with the story of Book #2. I *highly* recommend anyone interested in reading this book to do the same. Without reading the first book, a lot of context and character connections are lost. Having said that, I thought this book was significantly better than the first. I think it was a combination of things. Book #2 is told from the perspective of James - not Aimee. I found his narration much more enjoyable than hers. Also, I think this book benefited a great deal with the use of dual timelines. You were able to experience the shock/absurdity of some of the plot twists & flashbacks as the characters saw it. Super quick, easy summer read.
Better than the first book until the end.... wtf, I mean WTF was THAT?!?! Anti climatic flash in the pan and it was over.
I did enjoy that the characters feel more developed; not just the ones we met in the first book, but new ones as well. The Carlos/James story felt more believe able than Aimee's version, which just seemed to drag on as one big whiney fit.
James's emotional turmoil felt more real as a reader, I felt more invested in this book and was extremely disappointed at this male Kardashian family reunion with zero fireworks, instead more of a Brady Bunch reunion. Two thumbs down; 300+ pages and the excitement if building over what really happened in Mexico between James and Philip for .... wait WHAAAAA..... Nope, not buying it. We're suppose to believe that Philip isn't pissed after spending 5+ years in federal prison? That he's not still mad at his entire family. Fairy tail and pixie dust lies! As for Thomas, maybe the author should of written his story as the next one because from the first 2 books, this guy has issues. Either that or just write him off as absolute drama king over the top borderline nuts.

Not as good as the previous installment, but still a decent read. The flashbacks were a bit challenging for me though.
I received a copy from NetGalley and I loved this story! Even with it being the second in the series, I found it quite enjoyable and plan to go back and read the first book. Great writing and I couldn't put it down.
