Narrator: 5+ stars. Fantastic job. Prentice Onayemi is incredible!

This book. This series.
So. Damn. Good!

Through every twist, turn, and breath-stealing moment, Evan Winter takes the reader on an outstanding journey and I was not ready for the ending.
Each page had something new to offer and unveiled more of the stunning world created.
Exhausted, broken, and fueled by unfathomable rage, we continue to follow Tau on his path to justice alongside his most trusted men.
A beautiful world soaked in blood and violence. Will they ever know peace?

Breathtaking. Immersive. Absolutely phenomenal. Tau continues to be an extremely compelling (if not single-minded) main character and I love him. Fuelled almost entirely by vengeance, it was nice to see him grow and become more of a protector (tho he is still first and foremost Vengeance). I enjoyed the way his relationship with Tsiori evolved, and I was surprised as he was at the relationship reveal between Hadith and Uduak. I also grew to really love Nyah and her wit (“This, Chibo, is what men call leadership” Nyah said walking up with her daughter. “You can tell they are doing it when you see several of them not doing any work.”) and was devastated, but incredibly moved, by her sacrifice and death.
While this book was still fast paced (and I loved it!) it was definitely slowed down compared to the first, with lots of space for the characters to all develop in very satisfying ways.
