This is the second book in the new series by Cynthia Eden ‘LOST’.

Dean Bannon is a former FBI agent. He now works at LOST which an agency that finds missing people. He joined the LOST after his last in FBI ended badly to say the least. Now years later, he is searching for a young girl and his past seems to be catching upto him.

Emma Castille is a fortune teller in New Orleans. She spend her teenage years living on the streets after her father’s death in the hands of a killer.

Their paths cross when a sixteen year old goes missing and on it’s search Dean meets Emma, who seems to be the last person who saw her. Now, the serial killer seems to have Emma in his sights as his next victim.

I really liked them together, the cynical and blunt FBI agent and the equally cynical but charming fortune teller. Emma is a very interesting character, she’s a mentalist (you know a female version of Patrick Jane from the mentalist), noticing things other people ignore. I really liked her, she was a strong, independent woman who knew how to get what she wanted. A perfect counterpart to Dean. Dean was also a great hero, he was possessive and protective of Emma. They were both attracted to each other from the moment they met but there was the fact Dean thought Emma was a con artist which made their earlier interaction interesting to read.

Of course, the course to their happy ending was not easy, it was filled with twists and turns, a serial killer and an ex-boyfriend. The book also had the passion and the connection I have come to expect and love from Cynthia Eden’s books.

I really enjoyed the suspense part of the book as well, Cynthia gave hints but we didn’t know who the killer was or what possible motivation could be the cause of his behaviour.

Overall, I’m really enjoying the series and can’t wait for the next one Shattered which is going to be about Sarah (the psychologist in the team, she kind of reminds of Dr. Hunt from Body of Proof) and Jax (a criminal? and Emma’s ex) out in October. Happy Reading!

Eden continues to write solid books. My only criticism is that Eden really loves to put her female characters in dangerous situations (characters that have been yelling that they can handle themselves throughout the entire book) and have them devolve in to screaming, crying idiots. They never manage to get out of harmful situations on their own, they are always rescued. Obviously there will be some women (and people in general) who would behave similarly. I just take issue that this is a constant trend across the seven books that I've read of hers. Even when she features female characters who are supposed to be (insert spies, cops, security professionals), then they still fall apart in danger. it's just irritating.

Creep factor is high in general, though I did predict the exact twist so go me. Def recommend it, I think it's the most solid book of hers thus far that I've read.

**I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.**

Right from the beginning Twisted jumps right in with the action. I am loving this group from LOST. The suspense, the action, the constant guessing who did it. There was insta-love in this one, which is usually a turn off but it worked.

Dean is the calm cool collected, ex FBI agent sent to look for Julia a missing sixteen year old. He finds way more than he bargained for when he asks Emma, a street fortune teller for help. Things aren't always what they appear, monsters can hide in plain sight.

Such a good read. I love a book that keeps me guessing. Can't wait to see what happens next!

Emma is a seriously great character, and this book is great - good solid mystery with heaping boatloads of suspense.

I just got a little pissed at how
SpoilerDean kept letting Emma be taken from him, and/or leaving her behind. I mean, firstly, that never worked out well so how about we stop being dumb. And secondly, she's proven that she can handle herself, and is a major asset to the team. Thirdly, the FBI has proven they don't know their ass from a hole in the ground, so why do you trust them.

Also, I SERIOUSLY wanted to punch Wade in the face.

So that's why this lost a star.

A romance in New Orleans with a chilling serial killer to devour without moderation

One of my favorite books in this series with a very twisted plot (all the revelations !! And this ending !! It was so unexpected !!) but also characters hyper endearing and terribly human and imperfect and a sexy romance full of angst that I loved !

In short, a sexy romance full of dramas to read in one go

It started off a bit slow for me but when it picked up it kept me at the edge of my seat, had my heart in my throat and kept me guessing. I really enjoyed it and can't wait for the next in the series, Shattered.

Twisted
4 Stars

Emma Castille is a "reader" not in the psychic sense, but rather in the vein of Sherlock Holmes or Patrick Jane (The Mentalist). She joins forces with former FBI agent, Dean Bannon, in the search for a missing sixteen year old girl who appears to be the latest victim of a serial killer in the Big Easy.

The second book in Cynthia Eden's LOST series hits all the right notes. Set in New Orleans (a favorite of mine), the story utilizes the gothic atmosphere and spooky vibe of the city to enhance the serial killer plot.

The chemistry between Emma and Dean is tangible and their romance is more believable than the couple in the first installment.

Although the suspense is gripping and the villain a seriously nasty piece of work who enjoys playing with his prey, it is, nevertheless, quite easy to guess his identity. That said, the action is non-stop, and the climax and resolution are exciting and satisfying.

The hints at relationships to come are very intriguing and I look forward to continuing with the series.

Another great story, with plenty of plot twists, and really likable characters. The only reason I didn't give this story 5* was I found it a bit slow to start, and after reading 20% of the book I was starting to think I should just give up. However as a huge fan of the authors other romantic suspense books, I decided to keep trying and am glad in the end I did. The last part especially was gripping, and as usual I had no clue who the killer was, which as much as that drives me crazy, I also love! I would definitely recommend this book, especially if your a fan of the Lost series, just be aware it's a little slow going to start but don't let it stop you as it's worth it in the end.
