Really enjoyed this! Issa Rae has had a super interesting life, and I really enjoyed reading about her visits to Senegal, her family, and the beginnings of her career. She can be deprecating, but in a fun way. If you enjoyed Mindy Kaling's memoirs, then you'll want to pick this one up. It has a similar vibe.

Share black stories!

I relate to this story maybe more than most as a half African half American person, but getting a perspective in the wide range of experiences of black people and our culture makes this worth the read for very race. Issa is funny, easy to read, and tells a good story. Celebrate black culture by reading this book.

I would rate it a 3.5 ⭐️

I had the book sitting in my audible for soooo long. NGL learned a lot about Issa Rae and her background lots of things I didn’t know. This reminded me of the first episode of insecure lmao.

This book is hilarious and random and I want to be friends with Issa Rae.

Reads like a collection of blog entries. Some are quite good, some are not as good, none are bad, all would benefit from not being read one after the other.

I haven't watched her show on HBO but I might start now! She is so charming and frank.
