I know what this was going for, and for a while it did a good job of it; social commentary, the dichotomy of fame hungry teenager and looming world disaster etc. But this book could have easily been at least 100 pages shorter. There is also a time at which ‘poetic’ become ‘bordering on nonsensical’ and the point gets lost somewhere in the not-sentences. Some parts felt beautifully written and horridly realistically sad, but mostly this was just A LOT and not my style. Gotta say though, I do like the quote “If there was ever once a watcher and we the objects of their scrutiny then they long ago turned their eyes away.”
