Characters felt hollow.

The narrator of the audiobook wasn't good.

I loved this one!! Easily my favorite of the series!

Poor girl being sold on the market. Dashing Lord comes to save her, resulting in owning a wife he doesn't want... YES. This is the book that made me want to read this series.

After the first two and what a D Marcus has been, I questioned how he would redeem himself to me. The answer came very simple. Put him nowhere near his family and make him regret how much he ended up like his father, and boom, we have redemption! For once in his life, he was not the center of attention; this girl was, and we got to see him deal with that and come back to earth. Once put with Alyse, it was great to watch him fall for her.

The ending was my favorite. When it came down to keeping her or letting her go, but by then he was too far gone and I loved reading those scenes

To be honest, most of the regency romance novels do follow the same recipe. However, it is in the characters that each story differs a bit. However, with this book, I was not feeling the love for the characters as much as I wanted to.

I felt bad for Alyse and the situation that she found herself in being auctioned off. Marcus didn't come off as endearing in the beginning. In fact, he was standoffish. Which, made it hard to imagine these two falling for each other. While, Alyse is nice, she was a bit reserved. So between these two, it made for a long carriage ride. By the end of the story, I was feeling chemistry between Alyse and Marcus. Overall, this may not have been a favorite of mine.
