Hard to write a review of such a character oriented book. No surprise that I loved this book. Patrick Ness has a way of pulling you into the story every time. All the snipets of the past were so good even when it broke my heart. Love it

Seth dies in the US and then wakes up in a dystopian England. And the story is about that, but it's also about being who you are, choosing to live, choosing to love and the people we choose to be with. I always wish this had a sequel because I want to know what happens in the world and to the characters I grew to love, but I know enough to believe they'll be OK.

Patrick Ness never misses! I went into this not knowing anything, and I’m so glad I did. After figuring out this is not just a hard-hitting contemporary novel, my reading experience just got better and better. This was gut-wrenching and beautiful. I loved our main characters, the apocalyptic setting, and the ending. Everything about this was great! Wish I had known the content warnings beforehand because this book was graphic, although it was all handled well. I will say, it made me slightly uncomfortable the way one of our characters was written, however, it is not my voice you should be listening to when it comes to that rep. I highly implore you to go look at reviews from Black readers.
