This is another Holly Black novel, which means its all about the Fairfolk. Hazel and her brother Ben grow up in a town right beside the Fairfolk and spend a lot of time in the forest where they are. In the forest, there is a boy in a glass coffin that Hazel and Ben are obsessed with. He's been sleeping forever, until one day he wasn't.

Hazel obviously wanted to be a knight, and kiss boys. As the story goes on she wants to remember the years she spent as a night. Ben just wants to play music. There friendship was really well done and I like how much they supported each other.

I enjoyed this book. I thought it was a fun read and was a dark and creepy fairytale. It's a good one if you don't think too hard about it. The writing was good and atmospheric but the story felt shallow to me. Hazel and Ben weren't developed enough and the love interests even less.

It's a book thats the perfect example of okay. There are things that are drawbacks for it but it's still weirdly enjoyable. It's a fun, quick read for the summer.

3/5
I'd recommend this to fairy fans and fans of Holly Black. If you like her other works, you'll probably enjoy these. It's also one of the better fairy novels that I've read. It's very much a "younger" YA, so I'd recommend it to people who are a little younger.

This is the first Holly Black story I have ever read and I found it to be more from my friend's excitement that made me want to read this book then the basis of the story it's self. Though it started slow and un-exciting i continued because I'm not one to leave things unfinished. Holly Black's style of writing was different than what I'm used to, the flash backs in time were at times unnecessary and dull. it was easy to predict what the end of story was to be. I did however like the primus of this book and though i could see how the story might have change down different paths, i must say being a hopeless romantic i love how it ended. so i gave it 3 out of 5 stars. I do belive I will try another of Holly Black's other creations in the future to come.

How does Holly Black write like the stories I dreamed of as a kid? Obsessed. I love this so much. I want to go buy it right now.

I loved the Coldest Girl In Cold Town so I decided to read some more books by Holly Black and I was not disappointed. For being a stand alone as well as a fantasy book she did a wonderful job at setting up the world and characters completely. I was drawn into this world the moment I started reading. I love how she made it seem like the basic cliches were going to take place but then she flipped everything on us. I also loved how she didn't make the brother and sister relationship perfect; they had many flaws. Holly Black is definitely now on my radar.
